Day After Day

Writing is a way of gathering fragments of light from memory—tracing the moments that quietly move us.

Centered around “lessons my cat taught me,” this section reflects the moments of healing that accompany Wang’s creative life. In collaboration with Spring Pool Glass, characters are deconstructed and reformed through glass, allowing viewers to encounter fragments of everyday life refracted through the traces of writing. For Wang, attending to even the smallest details of life—no matter how insignificant they may seem—can give rise to memories that later become irreplaceable.

The year-long Meow Project takes writing as a form of diary. Inspired by the voice of her cat, Taro—the most frequent and intimate sound in her daily life—Wang inscribes the character “meow” across a range of found and everyday materials: coffee packaging, receipts, leftover pieces of Xuan paper, among others.

Days unfold in both ordinary and singular ways. Through each “meow,” repeated day after day, viewers are invited to sit within the Meow Tofu installation—gently brought back to a moment shaped by the quiet companionship of a cat.
